What?

Collaborative Newcastle is an innovative new partnership which aims to transform the health, wealth and wellbeing of everyone in the City.

The City’s ‘anchor institutions’ – some of the largest organisations which support local communities and the local economy – are working closely with each other and with local people to combine their efforts, expertise and resources in new and creative ways.

By working together in this way, our aim is to reduce inequality and provide better opportunities for all – children, families, adults and the elderly alike.

How

We believe we can achieve our aim by:

  • better understanding the needs of all residents – from the very young to the very old
  • providing a more joined-up system of health and social care that focuses on individual needs and provides the right support, advice, care and treatment
  • creating innovative, new solutions that better support individuals and communities, rather than fitting people into an inflexible range of traditional services
  • sharing knowledge, expertise and resources to develop and deliver ambitious plans that tackle the City’s historic challenges
  • working together to grow the local economy – providing better jobs and accessible and inclusive opportunities for all

By combining efforts, the Collaborative Newcastle partners aim to solve bigger problems, make a greater difference and help more people to live happy, healthy and fulfilling lives here in our City.

Why?

Many people across Newcastle have experienced ill-health, financial difficulties, unemployment, poor housing or social isolation. And often one of these problems can lead to, or is linked to, another.

Covid-19 has caused further difficulties for lots of people and communities in our City.

Even though our hospitals and public services are some of the best in the country, none of the organisations could make a big enough difference by working alone or by tackling these problems separately.

Where do I fit in?

Collaborative Newcastle is working with and for you, and everyone who lives in our City.

We know that personal wellbeing isn’t just about your health, it’s about all of the things that are important in life – from family and friends to homes, jobs and financial security.

So, we want you to be an active partner, to share what matters most, to access and embrace opportunities and support (where needed) and to work with us to improve the health, wealth and wellbeing of you, your family and your community.
