Children & Families Newcastle is a new approach to ensure services and support is accessible to children and families. It brings services together so they can support children and families to get the help and support that they want and need.
Children & Families Newcastle is a group of services and organisations working together with children and families. It includes:
Community Hubs – These vibrant hubs are located across the City and provide friendly safe spaces with services for babies, children, young people and families The Hubs link with smaller organisations and services across their locality, including the voluntary sector organisations and schools to create a network of buildings in each locality. The hubs are social spaces that also offer a range of practical, educational and well-being activities for children and families. Activities offered in each local area will be shaped by input from the local community. Services that will be available from hubs include – health visiting, family support, community midwifery, mental health support, children’s therapies, youth provision, training opportunities, childcare and employability services. Read more about Community Hubs.
Family Partners – A Family Partner is a new role designed to help children, young people and families navigate services available to them and help them to work with organisations providing help. The Family Partners work closely with families, building trusting relationships that empower families to make positive changes. The Family Partners liaise with services involved with a family, such as schools and health professionals, and connect the family into local activities, training and development opportunities or professional support depending upon their needs.
Better Integrated Services – services better joined-up in communities and mean that children, young people and families only have to tell their story once.
Children & Families Newcastle has been championed by Collaborative Newcastle, which includes Newcastle City Council, Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Newcastle Gateshead CCG and Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust – working closely with Newcastle GP Services, the GP Federation for Newcastle, Primary Care Networks and the voluntary sector.
Alongside Collaborative Newcastle partners, a large number of organisations and voluntary and community groups from across the city are part of Children & Families Newcastle.
