With more than 50,000 higher education students in Newcastle, the partnership between city and students is a key part of our work.
Our aim is for students of all backgrounds and cultures to have a positive experience whilst living, studying and working in the city and wider region; for our communities to have a positive experience of living and working alongside our students; and for the city and region to benefit from the skills, knowledge, experience and diversity that students bring.
To help achieve our aims, our students have selected five priority areas which are important to them, and on which our partnership will focus:
Housing and Transport:
We want our students to have a positive experience of living and traveling within Newcastle and the surrounding area.
Health and Wellbeing:
We want our students to be, and to feel, supported in all aspects of their health and wellbeing.
We want our students to feel they are valued and an integral part of the city and region.
Employability and Skills:
We want our students to recognise the benefits of working in the north east as students and graduates, whether in employment or working for themselves.
Our aim is to involve students in initiatives which will help them to contribute to tackle the climate emergency and work towards a Net Zero Newcastle.
